In this Gloomhaven live play video, we continue to learn to play Jaws of the Lion, the new standalone Gloomhaven board game. This is the final tutorial video where we play through the last introductory scenario of Jaws of the Lion. After this, our first Boss fight, we will be moving on to the full rules.
This is a playthrough of scenario number 5, A Deeper Understanding. We are experiencing this JotL scenario for the first time but are both experienced Gloomhaven players. While playing this scenario we highlight the differences between this new edition of Gloomhaven and the original.

My thoughts on Scenario 5 of Gloomhaven Jaws of the Lion:
This is it. The final introductory adventure in Gloomhaven Jaws of the Lion. After this scenario, we move on to the full rules.
The big new addition to this scenario is the Boss rules. These are identical to the Boss rules in Gloomhaven, and we’ve faced enough bosses in the full game to know what we’re doing. This particular boss has a special ability that made this scenario very interesting and more difficult than I expected. You definitely couldn’t just run in and smash everything. I thought this was an excellent choice for a final tutorial and a good way to show off that Gloomhaven is not always about killing every monster you find.
There was another big change that happened for this scenario and that was a huge lighting improvement to our actual play recording set up. In this video we are using a pair of Neewer Dimmable 5600K USB LED Video Lights and I’ve got to say looking at the video from this scenario in comparison to the previous four scenarios it made a huge difference!
While I do have to apologize for those who were watching live on Twitch, as we spent a long time playing around with the lights and trying to find the best place to put them and the best settings to use I think the end result was totally worth it.
