Hello, I’m Moe Tousignant, the Tabletop Bellhop, your Cardboard Concierge.
I’m here to answer your questions and offer gaming advice. My goal is simple: to help you make your game nights better.
Gaming has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Some of my earliest memories are of sitting on my dad’s lap, helping him paint miniatures for Dungeons & Dragons. Every New Year’s Eve was spent playing Coup D’etat and Mah Jong with family friends. My dad even kept a set of magnetic playing cards for trips to the beach, and our car’s glove box was always stuffed with travel games. Gaming was just part of everyday life in the Tousignant household.
As I grew up, my allowance quickly found its way to the local hobby shop. I discovered Games Workshop’s amazing bookshelf games like DungeonQuest, Fury of Dracula, and Talisman. At a tiny local shop called The Dragon’s Den, the owner, Randy (affectionately known as “The Dragon Lady”), introduced me to roleplaying games and steered me toward The Windsor Gaming Society, the local university’s gaming club.
For over a decade, I spent every Saturday gaming for 12 hours straight. Those were the days of Warhammer, Cyberpunk, Acquire, Adeptus Titanicus, Space Hulk, Car Wars, and Blood Bowl. We tried just about every RPG of the ’80s and ’90s and played countless board games. Eventually, I became president of the Windsor Gaming Society, where I introduced more people to gaming, organized mini-cons, and hosted the first Magic: The Gathering tournament in Southwestern Ontario.
As life moved on, people graduated, started careers, got married, and moved away. I managed to stay connected to gaming through magazines like Dragon and Knights of the Dinner Table. My then girlfriend, now wife, Deanna, and I managed to get back into more active gaming by discovering Catan and coercing our friends into playing.
Then came the internet. I created a web portal (remember those?) called The Windsor Gaming Resource (WGR), which included a message board for organizing local events. Around that time, I also discovered modern hobby board games like Catan, Carcassonne, Power Grid, and El Grande. Through WGR, I was able to recapture some of the magic of the Windsor Gaming Society, hosting gaming events every weekend—and sometimes multiple times a week.
The Windsor Gaming Resource lives on as a thriving Facebook group with over 1000 members. For over 25 years, I’ve organized countless tabletop gaming events under this banner—weekend game nights at local game stores, themed gaming nights at pubs, The Great Canadian Board Game Blitz, multi-venue Extra Life charity events, board and RPG exchanges, mini-cons, and holiday game parties.
The pandemic put many public events on hold, but we’ve come back stronger than ever. In 2024, I partnered with Walkerville Brewery to launch Brews and Board Games, a monthly event that combines great beer with great games. You can learn more about this exciting new event here.
Over the years, I’ve played thousands of games across all genres, amassing a collection of over 1,200 RPG items and 1,000 board games (and that’s not counting what I’ve traded or sold!). I’ve had the opportunity to review, playtest, edit, and even design games. I’m proud to call myself an award-winning, published RPG designer and an accredited RPG playtester. As for board games, while my name may not always appear in the credits, I’ve contributed to the design process for several titles.
My lifelong friend, Sean Stephens, had been encouraging me to start a podcast for years. As an early adopter of the medium, he spent his daily commutes listening to podcasts and kept telling me, “We should start a podcast about games!” But life always seemed to get in the way, and we never quite got around to it. Then, after being let go from my job in the automotive industry, I decided to take a big chance and go all in on my love of gaming.
My wife, Deanna, played a pivotal role in making this happen. Having run a successful parenting blog for several years, she had the know-how to get us started. In the summer of 2018, with Sean as my co-host and Deanna as editor and tech support, we launched the Tabletop Bellhop Gaming Podcast.
The podcast, along with this website, became the place where I answer gaming questions, provide board game reviews, and share gaming advice. Over the years, we’ve made tweaks—most notably adding Deanna as a co-host—but the core premise has stayed the same: helping people make their game nights better.
Gaming isn’t just a hobby for me—it’s who I am. I am a gamer, a game ambassador, and your Tabletop Bellhop. Helping people discover and enjoy the world of tabletop gaming is my passion.
