Why should I listen?

The Tabletop Bellhop Gaming Podcast is the Dear Abby for gamers. We answer listeners’ gaming and game night questions. We’ve covered everything from, “How can I protect my board games?”, “Why do so many people hate Catan?”, and “How do you handle when you’ve got a disconnect between the types of games that you’d like to own and play with the types of games that you can actually get to the table?” to “What are some good games for a 10 year old to play with their grandparents over Zoom?”, “What are some silly sci-fi games that Douglas Adams fans would enjoy?” and “What are your suggestions for games that are good to play in a pub?”

Each episode we have a main “Ask the Bellhop” segment, which is usually us answering a gaming question (though sometimes we do a con recap episode, an AMA, or some other special topic), we also talk about the games we’ve been playing and do a few deep dive board game reviews.

Before reviewing a game, we try to play it a minimum of five times. Our board game reviews are pretty in-depth. We talk about the component quality, how clear the rules are, who we think would and wouldn’t enjoy this game, and our overall thoughts.

If you join us live on Twitch, all of that is peppered with breaks to chat with the Lobby and get other folks’ opinions on the topics we’re talking about.

We’ve been doing this since July of 2018, so we like to think we’ve smoothed off the rough patches by this point. (If you’re a brand new listener, maybe you should just join in where we are now — I don’t think I would recommend going back and starting at Episode #1.)

Where can I find the podcast?

We record the podcast live on Twitch on Wednesday nights, and folks who attend the live recording get to take part in our chatroom, The Lobby.

Sean then does some magic and edits that live recording to turn it into a podcast which drops weekly in the early wee hours of Tuesday morning.
