Returning to Breakout Con: Gwen’s first game convention, Tabletop Bellhop Gaming Podcast Episode 270

Tonight we’ve got a very special guest, Gwendolen, Moe & Deanna’s daughter, on the show to talk about Breakout Con 2025. We haven’t been back to Breakout since 2019 and this was Gwen’s first ever tabletop gaming con experience.

Moe and Gwen talk about why more people should attend this Canadian convention and talk about all of the games they played. We wrap up with reviews of two games that the team brought home from Breakout, Sinoda and Maki Master.

If you’d like to watch the (slightly less edited) video version of this recording you can jump to the bottom of the post.

What we’ve been playing lately:

— Sinoda Review — [01:41:05]

Sinoda is an awesome abstract strategy game.

We got hooked on this D4 based abstract strategy game after Gwen decided to challenge the designers at their own game.

— Maki Master Review — [01:51:14]

Since playing Maki Master at Breakout Con my entire family has fallen in love with it. We love the simple mechanics that hide tactual and strategic depth and the awesome artwork and components.
