Weighing in on Game Complexity – Ask The Bellhop

Do you like heavy games or lighter games? What exactly does that mean? Today I'm talking about game weight in response to a "question" we received from Sean Hamilton.


Sean Hamilton writes:
Not exactly a question, but I feel like it's a point that should be addressed. The importance of different 'weights' of games. A discussion how it can be useful to have a light game at the start of the night when you might be waiting for people to show up, and a light game after a heavy game just to recover. Burning my brain in Arkwright, War Chest for date night, and more -Tabletop Gaming Weekly

This past week in addition to trying a two player random dungeon in Gloomhaven, I finally got to try play the rather heavy game Arkwright which was quite the brain burner.


This past weekend my wife and I had a night out and as part of that we tried out War Chest which she had given me for my birthday. We also played some digital Onitama while waiting for our food to arrive.

Each week I'm going to take a look back at the previous week. Basically, an in-depth #WhatDidYouPlayMondays. I will be talking about the games I played, any events I was involved with, etc.


Last week was awesome gaming wise. I've got an extensive Pile of Shame and getting games off of that pile feels good. I was able to take Wasteland Express Delivery Service, Hansa Teutonica and Warhammer Underworlds Shadespire off my pile this past week. I also got in another play of Bruges.
