Mermaid Adventures

Surprisingly complex games – Games that were much more than we expected – Tabletop Bellhop Gaming Podcast Episode 103

August 25, 2020 by Moe T. Leave a Comment

Surprisingly Complex Games - Games that were much more than we expected. In this episode, we talk about games that surprised us in a good way. In the game room, we compare a couple of games with older versions of them. First will be how Gloomhaven Jaws of the Lion differs from Gloomhaven and then Mermaid Adventures Revised, which is now a setting book for The Pip System Corebook. In The Bellhop's Tabletop, we talk about Camp Capstone, another online game convention, and Runaway Hirelings an improv-heavy fantasy RPG.

Episode 103 of the Tabletop Bellhop Gaming Podcast, recorded August 19th, 2020. Join us as we stream live every week on Wednesdays at 9:00 PM Eastern on Twitch. If you like some video with your audio, you can also watch/listen to individual segments from this show on YouTube. [ READ MORE ]

Mermaid Adventures Revised Review, An underwater setting sourcebook for The Pip System Corebook

August 22, 2020 by Moe T. Leave a Comment

The kid-friendly RPG Mermaid Adventures was the first game I introduced to my children at a young age and they absolutely loved it. I loved how it introduced the concepts of more structured imaginative play in an easy to understand way.

Since our plays of Mermaid Adventures, Third Eye Games has published Mermaid Adventured Revised, an updated version of this RPG rulebook that is no longer a stand-alone game but rather an undersea supplement for The Pip System Corebook. This review will look at that new book and compare it to the original.  [ READ MORE ]

August 15, 2020 by Moe T. 2 Comments

The first Roleplaying Game that I played with my kids was Mermaid Adventures by Eloy Lasanta. Since I first played that game, Eloy has gone back and taken the basic system for Mermaid Adventures and turned it into a full roleplaying system, a system designed to handle any style and genre of game. That system was published as the Pip System Corebook.

In this detailed read review, I take you through the Pip System Corebook chapter by chapter to discover why this is such a great system for children or players new to roleplaying. [ READ MORE ]

Finding the right role-playing game to get your kids into roleplaying can be hard. The first RPG I introduced my kids to was Mermaid Adventures by Eloy Lasanta and Third Eye Games.
